Important Information

  • Pick-up service from Istanbul is provided only for hotels located on the European side of Istanbul. Guests staying on the Asian side will need to arrange their own transfer to the meeting point.
  • Hot air balloon rides in Cappadocia are weather-dependent and may be canceled by the aviation authority. We recommend booking in advance for the earliest possible morning. Refunds will be arranged if canceled due to weather.
  • Domestic flights in Turkey allow 15 kg checked luggage per person. Excess luggage fees apply. We recommend soft-sided bags for easier handling.
  • Comfortable walking shoes are essential -- many sites involve uneven terrain, stairs, and narrow underground passages.
  • Underground city visits involve narrow tunnels and low ceilings, which may not be suitable for travelers with claustrophobia or mobility issues.
  • The early morning departure from Istanbul (around 4:00 AM) requires an early wake-up. Plan to rest the night before.
  • Cappadocia experiences cool temperatures even in summer mornings and evenings due to its high elevation. Bring layered clothing.
  • Turkey uses Type C and F electrical outlets (European standard, 220V). Travelers from the US/UK should bring an adapter.

FAQs

Is the transfer from Istanbul Airport to my hotel included?

No. The tour includes pick-up from your Istanbul hotel (European side only) on Day 1, but it does not include arrival or departure transfers between Istanbul Airport (IST) or Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) and your hotel in Istanbul. We can arrange these transfers separately upon request.

Can I add a hot air balloon ride to this tour?

Yes, an optional sunrise hot air balloon ride can be booked in advance for an additional cost. The ride takes place early in the morning on Day 2 before your flight back to Istanbul. Balloon rides are weather-dependent and subject to civil aviation approval.

What kind of hotel will I stay at in Cappadocia?

You will stay one night in a traditional cave hotel, which is one of Cappadocia's signature experiences. The rooms are carved into the soft volcanic rock and offer a unique, comfortable atmosphere with modern amenities.

Will my luggage be safe during the tour?

Yes. Your luggage will travel with you in the touring vehicle throughout the day until check-in at the cave hotel. We recommend packing only essentials in a small overnight bag for easier handling.

What time will I arrive back in Istanbul on Day 2?

Return flight times vary based on airline availability and may be in the morning or afternoon. We recommend not booking onward international flights from Istanbul on the same day, or allowing a generous buffer of at least 4-5 hours.

Is this tour suitable for children or elderly travelers?

The tour is suitable for most travelers, but please note it involves an early start, walking on uneven terrain, and visits to underground spaces with narrow passages. Travelers with mobility limitations or claustrophobia should consider these factors.

What should I pack for this short tour?

Bring comfortable walking shoes, layered clothing (Cappadocia can be cool morning and evening), sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, a camera, and any personal medications. Pack light as you'll only need essentials for one overnight stay.

Can the tour be customized or extended?

Yes. We offer extended Cappadocia tours of 2 or 3 days that include additional valleys, villages, and underground cities. Contact our team to customize the itinerary or upgrade to a private tour version.

Will I travel with the same group and guide throughout the tour?

Our multi-day Turkey packages are regular group/shared tour arrangements, not fully escorted tours with one tour leader and the same guests from arrival to departure. Sightseeing tours are shared and usually operate with about 15-20 guests, but group size and participants may change by city or day as travelers join or leave different scheduled tours. Licensed English-speaking guides lead scheduled sightseeing visits only. Guides do not travel with guests on domestic flights, intercity buses, airport transfers, hotel transfers, or free-time periods unless this is specifically stated in the itinerary. For flights, buses, and transfers, guests are met by our driver or local representative at airports, bus terminals, or hotels and assisted with the planned transfer. One Nation Travel coordinates the full itinerary, hotels, domestic tickets, transfers, local guides, and support throughout the trip.
