Istanbul Byzantine & Ottoman Relics Tour
After breakfast, at around 8:30 am, you will be picked up from your hotel to begin a full-day exploration of Istanbul’s most iconic Byzantine and Ottoman landmarks.
Your first stop is the magnificent Hagia Sophia, a masterpiece of Byzantine architecture that has served as a cathedral, a mosque, and now a mosque-museum, reflecting centuries of spiritual and cultural heritage.
Next, visit the world-famous Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Mosque), admired for its striking blue İznik tiles and six elegant minarets. Still an active place of worship, it remains one of the finest examples of Ottoman architecture.
Continue to the historic Hippodrome of Constantinople, once the social and sporting heart of the Byzantine Empire. Here, you will see impressive monuments such as the Obelisk of Theodosius, the Serpent Column, and the German Fountain.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, where you will have the chance to taste traditional Turkish cuisine.
In the afternoon, visit the splendid Topkapi Palace, the opulent residence of Ottoman sultans for nearly 400 years. Wander through its grand courtyards, discover the jewel-filled treasury, and, if you wish, step into the fascinating Harem, the private quarters of the royal family (optional entry).
The final stop of the day is the bustling Grand Bazaar, one of the oldest and largest covered markets in the world. With more than 4,000 shops selling everything from carpets and jewelry to spices and ceramics, it is the perfect place to soak up the atmosphere and shop for souvenirs.
At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel around 5:00 pm. The evening is free for you to relax or continue exploring Istanbul at your own pace. Overnight in Istanbul.
