    Arrival in Izmir – Pergamon, Thyatira & Smyrna

    Upon your arrival at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (early morning arrival recommended), you will be met by your guide. Your journey begins with a drive north to the ancient city of Pergamon. You will see the impressive Pergamon Acropolis, cited as the "Throne of Satan" in the Book of Revelation, and the Altar of Zeus. Next, you will visit the Red Basilica (St. John's Church) before driving to Akhisar to visit the ruins of Thyatira, known as the "corrupt church." Your day ends with a panoramic tour of Smyrna (modern Izmir), the "suffering church," before checking into your hotel. Overnight in Izmir.

    Sardis, Philadelphia & Laodicea

    After breakfast, you will depart for Sardis, the capital of the Lydian Kingdom and the "dead church." Here, you will visit the Temple of Artemis and the synagogue. Next, you will continue to Philadelphia (Alasehir), the "faithful church," to see the remains of the Byzantine basilica and its frescoes. In the afternoon, you will explore the ancient city of Laodicea, the "lukewarm church," which has been beautifully excavated and restored in recent years. After the tour, you will arrive in Pamukkale to check into your thermal hotel and enjoy dinner. Overnight in Pamukkale.

    Hierapolis & Pamukkale – Drive to Kusadasi

    Your day begins with a relaxing walk on the white Pamukkale Travertines. Immediately above the pools lies the ancient city of Hierapolis. You will explore the Necropolis, the Hierapolis Theatre, and the Martyrium of St. Philip the Apostle. After soaking in the history (and perhaps the thermal waters), you will leave the interior region and drive towards the Aegean coast. You will arrive in the resort town of Kusadasi in the late afternoon for check-in. Overnight in Kusadasi.

    Ephesus, Basilica of St. John & End of Tour

    Your final day is dedicated to the highlight of the Seven Churches: Ephesus ("the loveless church"). You will walk through the marble streets of this incredibly preserved Greco-Roman City of Ephesus, admiring the Library of Celsus, the Ephesus Ancient Greek Theatre, and the Temple of Hadrian. Following this, you will visit the House of the Virgin Mary, a pilgrimage site believed to be her final dwelling place. You will also visit the The Basilica of Saint John, built over the tomb of the apostle. After the tour, around 5:00 pm, you will be transferred to either Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport or a location of your choice in Izmir City Center. This marks the end of our services.

Will I travel with the same group and guide throughout the tour?

Our multi-day Turkey packages are regular group/shared tour arrangements, not fully escorted tours with one tour leader and the same guests from arrival to departure. Sightseeing tours are shared and usually operate with about 15-20 guests, but group size and participants may change by city or day as travelers join or leave different scheduled tours. Licensed English-speaking guides lead scheduled sightseeing visits only. Guides do not travel with guests on domestic flights, intercity buses, airport transfers, hotel transfers, or free-time periods unless this is specifically stated in the itinerary.
