4-Day Private Istanbul Highlights Tour

On arrival at Istanbul Airport, you meet the airport representative at the designated meeting point. You then transfer to your hotel in Istanbul and check in.

After breakfast at your hotel, you meet your professional licensed guide at 9:00 AM for a full-day walking tour of Istanbul‘s Sultanahmet district.

You begin at Hagia Sophia, built as a Byzantine cathedral in the sixth century. You learn about its later use as an Ottoman mosque, its years as a museum, and its return to use as a mosque. During your visit, you see its dome, architecture, and historic mosaics.

You continue to the Blue Mosque, officially known as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque. Built in the early seventeenth century, it has six minarets and an interior decorated with blue İznik tiles. You visit an active place of worship, so visiting hours may be adjusted around prayer times.

At the Hippodrome of Constantinople, you learn about the chariot races, imperial ceremonies, and public gatherings held here during the Byzantine period. You see the Egyptian Obelisk, Serpent Column, and Walled Obelisk.

You then visit the Basilica Cistern, built during the reign of Emperor Justinian I to supply water to the Great Palace and surrounding buildings. You walk among its marble columns and see the Medusa head carvings.

Your final stop is the Grand Bazaar, where you explore covered lanes lined with carpets, ceramics, jewelry, leather goods, spices, souvenirs, and Turkish handicrafts. You return to your hotel after the tour.

The Grand Bazaar is closed on Sundays. If your visit falls on a Sunday, you may visit an alternative shopping area.

After breakfast at your hotel, you meet your guide at 9:00 AM for sightseeing through the modern and historic districts of Istanbul.

You start at Taksim Square, surrounded by hotels, restaurants, cafés, and shops. You learn about its role in the city’s modern history before continuing to İstiklal Street. Along this pedestrian avenue, you pass historic buildings, churches, consulates, boutiques, bookstores, and traditional shops. Depending on your tour’s pace, you have time to pause and take photographs.

You continue to Süleymaniye Mosque, designed by Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan for Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent in the sixteenth century. You explore the mosque complex and learn about Ottoman architecture and religious traditions. From its position above the Golden Horn, you look across the city.

At the Spice Bazaar, also known as the Egyptian Bazaar, you walk past stalls selling spices, Turkish delight, dried fruits, nuts, teas, herbs, and sweets. You have time to browse and shop for Turkish products.

You then head to the waterfront to board your Bosphorus cruise. As you travel between Istanbul’s European and Asian shores, you see waterfront palaces, Ottoman-era mansions, historic fortifications, mosques, neighborhoods, and bridges connecting the two sides. You can take photographs from the water along the route.

Your sightseeing program ends at approximately 3:00 PM, followed by your return to the hotel. The scheduled program lasts approximately 6 hours.

After breakfast at your hotel in Istanbul, you check out and prepare for departure. At the scheduled time, you meet your driver at the hotel for your transfer to Istanbul Airport for your international departure flight.
