Overview
Explore Istanbul, Cappadocia, and Pamukkale on a fast-moving five-day loop that connects Turkey’s imperial capital with the Aegean coast and the volcanic heart of Anatolia. Your week starts with an airport welcome in Istanbul, where a driver meets you at arrivals and takes you to a hotel in the Old City, leaving your first evening free (ask about the optional dinner cruise on the Bosphorus Strait). A full guided day follows on foot through the historic peninsula, from the domes and gold mosaics of Hagia Sophia to the Blue Mosque, the Byzantine Hippodrome, Topkapi Palace and the crowded lanes of the Grand Bazaar. A short morning flight then carries you south to Denizli and the white calcium terraces of Pamukkale, walked barefoot below the Roman ruins of Hierapolis and its Necropolis. The route continues to Ephesus, where marble streets lead past the Library of Celsus, the Temple of Hadrian and Great Theatre of Ephesus, before a connecting flight brings you to a cave hotel in Cappadocia. Your final day traces the rock-cut churches of the Göreme Open-Air Museum, Pigeon Valley and Uçhisar Castle, with an optional sunrise balloon ride, before the return flight to Istanbul. Domestic flights, guided touring and listed meals are coordinated throughout, so you keep moving without the logistics.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Welcome to Istanbul. Whenever your flight lands at Istanbul Airport (IST) or Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW), our driver will be waiting at the international arrivals exit holding a sign with your name. From there, you’ll be taken directly to your hotel in the Old City.
Depending on traffic, the drive from IST takes roughly 45 minutes to an hour, while the journey from SAW can run closer to 90 minutes. After you check in, the rest of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure.
If you’d like to add something this evening, ask us about the optional dinner cruise on the Bosphorus Strait, which includes a meal and live show on board (available at extra cost). Otherwise, take time to rest before tomorrow’s early start. Comfortable shoes are the one item you’ll want ready for the week ahead.
Overnight in Istanbul.

After breakfast, at around 8:30 AM, your guide will collect you from the hotel for a full day in the Old City. The group stays small, so you’ll hear everything clearly, and most of today’s sights lie within walking distance of one another.
You’ll begin at Hagia Sophia, completed in 537 AD under Emperor Justinian. Look up at the main dome, then seek out the surviving gold mosaics. Next door stands the Blue Mosque, named for the blue Iznik tiles lining its prayer hall.
From there you’ll walk the Byzantine Hippodrome, once a Roman chariot track, where the Obelisk of Theodosius still stands. Then continue to Topkapi Palace, home to Ottoman sultans for about 400 years.
Lunch is included at a restaurant in the Old City, giving you a taste of local dishes before the afternoon. Afterward you’ll head into the Grand Bazaar, with its thousands of shops selling carpets, ceramics, spices and jewelry.
Expect plenty of walking today, along with crowds and cobblestones, so wear flat, comfortable shoes. Bring a scarf and cover your knees and shoulders for the mosques. You’ll return to your hotel around 4:30 PM, and the evening is free.

After landing, a driver takes you to Pamukkale to meet your guide. Around 10:45 AM you’ll stop at the Karahayit Red Springs, where iron-rich water stains the rock a rusty red. Then, around 11:30 AM, you’ll continue to the ancient city of Hierapolis.
Here you’ll see the Necropolis, the Roman Baths, the Domitian Gate, Frontinus Street, the Agora, the Theater and the Plutonium. At around 12:30 PM you’ll have about an hour free, with the option to swim in the Cleopatra Antique Pools at your own cost.
At 1:30 PM you’ll meet your guide to walk the white Pamukkale travertines barefoot from top to bottom, with shoes and socks removed to keep the calcium terraces clean. Lunch at a local restaurant follows around 2:30 PM. A 30-minute stop at an onyx workshop takes place around 3:30 PM before the drive to Kuşadası. Here you’ll walk the marble streets that once carried tens of thousands of people. Plan on a couple of hours of walking, much of it on uneven stone and often under strong sun.
Lunch is included at a nearby restaurant. Afterward, you’ll visit the House of the Virgin Mary, believed to be her final home. You’ll pass the last column of the Temple of Artemis, once one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and finish at the Isa Bey Mosque, built in 1375 in Seljuk style.
You’ll then be driven to Izmir Airport for your flight to Kayseri or Nevşehir, usually connecting through Istanbul. A representative meets you on arrival and drives you to your cave hotel in Cappadocia. It’s a long travel day, so keep a light layer handy for the evening.

For those who want the balloon experience, we can arrange an early morning hot air balloon ride before breakfast, weather permitting (extra cost). Flights lift off before sunrise for the best light over the valleys.
After breakfast, at around 9:30 AM, you’ll be picked up for a full day across Cappadocia’s volcanic landscape. First is the Göreme Open-Air Museum, a cluster of rock-cut churches with Byzantine frescoes. Next is Pigeon Valley, named for the dovecotes carved into the soft tuff. A quick 15-minute photo stop follows at Uçhisar Castle, the highest point in the area. Lunch is included at a local restaurant, where you might try testi kebab, meat slow-cooked in a sealed clay pot cracked open at the table.
In the afternoon you’ll see the Fairy Chimneys at Pasabağ, then the multi-level Kaymaklı Underground City or Özkonak Underground City, and finish at Devrent Valley, where the rocks resemble animals.

Important Information
- The hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia on Day 5 is an optional extra-cost activity and is weather-dependent; flights may be canceled by the aviation authority. Pre-book in advance, and any rescheduling, credit or refund follows the booked balloon supplier's written terms.
- Day 3 begins very early with an approximately 4:00 AM hotel pickup for a morning flight to Denizli departing between 6:00 and 8:00 AM. Prepare the night before and rest early, as start times are fixed by the flight schedule.
- Your itinerary includes domestic flights (Istanbul-Denizli, a connection routed through Istanbul, and Cappadocia-Istanbul). Checked and cabin baggage limits vary by fare, so verify the exact allowance and any excess fees directly with the operating carrier; soft-sided bags are easier to handle.
- This tour visits active mosques including the Blue Mosque and Isa Bey Mosque, which close to visitors during prayer times, especially Friday midday prayers. Please verify current opening hours with the site's official schedule, as your guide may adjust timing accordingly.
- A modest dress code applies at the Blue Mosque and Isa Bey Mosque: women should cover their head, shoulders and knees, and all visitors should dress conservatively. Bring a scarf, as coverings are not always available.
- This tour involves substantial walking on uneven stone, marble and cobbled surfaces at Hierapolis, Ephesus, the Pamukkale travertines and Göreme. Ephesus alone requires a couple of hours of walking, often under strong sun, so a good level of fitness, comfortable walking shoes, sun protection and water are essential.
- Accommodation is based on twin/double sharing and includes a cave hotel in Cappadocia; triple rooms may be limited at some properties and single supplements apply to solo travelers. Confirm your room configuration in your written confirmation.
- On arrival day, our driver will meet you at the international arrivals exit at Istanbul Airport (IST) or Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) holding a sign with your name; transfer time is roughly 45-60 minutes from IST and up to 90 minutes from SAW, depending on traffic.
- Verify your passport validity and any visa, transit, health and entry requirements with the official authorities for your nationality well before travel, as these rules can change.
- Review current official travel and health guidance from your government and Turkish authorities before departure; we cannot guarantee conditions on the ground.
- The optional Bosphorus dinner cruise (Day 1) and the Cappadocia balloon flight are available at extra cost and are not included in your package price. Only services expressly listed in your written confirmation are included.
- Turkey uses the Turkish Lira; carry some local currency for small purchases, tips and optional extras, as not all vendors accept cards. Turkey uses Type C and F outlets (220V), so bring a suitable adapter.
- If you need to cancel or change your dates, notice must be given at least 5 days before the tour starts; non-refundable flight and bus ticket costs are deducted from the paid balance. With less than 5 days notice, or for a no-show, the full payment is non-refundable.
FAQs
You can reserve this 5-Day Turkey Tour directly through the booking form on the tour page, or contact our booking support team if you’d like a custom arrangement. Your reservation is confirmed only after payment, availability and booking details have been validated, so we recommend booking early to secure your preferred travel dates.
The deposit or full-payment requirement, currency, balance due date and any disclosed payment-processing charge vary by booking and are stated on the current booking page and in the written confirmation before payment. Flight and bus tickets are issued only under the confirmed booking terms and, once issued, are non-refundable. If you need to cancel or change your travel dates, notify One Nation Travel at least 5 days before the tour starts. For requests received at least 5 days before the tour starts, the cost of all non-refundable flight and bus tickets will be deducted from your paid balance. For requests received less than 5 days before the tour starts, and for no-shows, the full amount paid is non-refundable.
Your confirmation, along with the applicable voucher, hotel details, meeting instructions and airport pickup arrangements, is issued after your payment, availability and booking details have been validated. Because this tour involves domestic flights and coordinated transfers, we finalize these details carefully before sending your confirmation. Our team will keep you informed throughout the process.

The sunrise hot air balloon ride is an optional add-on available at extra cost and is not part of the standard package. Flights lift off before sunrise on Day 5 for the best light over the valleys, and departures always depend on weather conditions. If you’d like to include it, let us know in advance so we can arrange it before your Cappadocia touring day.
When visiting the Blue Mosque, Isa Bey Mosque and the House of the Virgin Mary, both men and women should dress modestly with shoulders and knees covered. Women are asked to cover their hair with a scarf inside mosques, so it’s helpful to carry a light scarf with you. You’ll also need to remove your shoes before entering the prayer halls, so easy-to-remove footwear is convenient.
This is an active tour with several full days of walking, often on uneven marble and stone surfaces at Ephesus, Hierapolis and Göreme. At Pamukkale you’ll walk barefoot across the travertine terraces, and days can involve a couple of hours of walking under strong sun. Comfortable closed walking shoes, sun protection and a good level of general fitness will make the experience far more enjoyable.
The tour includes several domestic flights connecting Istanbul, Denizli and Cappadocia, and Turkish domestic carriers typically allow a limited checked baggage weight along with one small carry-on. Because allowances can vary by airline and fare, we recommend packing light and confirming the exact limit with your confirmed flight details. Traveling with a modest suitcase also makes the frequent transfers and early departures much easier.
The tour includes 4 nights of accommodation with daily breakfast, comprising hotels in Istanbul and along the route, and a memorable cave hotel in Cappadocia carved into the region’s soft volcanic rock. The cave hotel is one of the highlights of the trip and offers a truly unique Anatolian experience. Specific hotel names and details are provided with your booking confirmation.
Many nationalities can enter Turkey visa-free or via the convenient online e-Visa system, though requirements depend on your passport and length of stay. We strongly recommend checking the official Turkish e-Visa website well before departure and ensuring your passport is valid for at least six months. If you’re unsure, our support team can point you in the right direction.
Spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) are the most pleasant times, offering mild temperatures ideal for the extensive walking at Ephesus, Pamukkale and Cappadocia. Summer can be very hot at the ancient sites, while winter brings cooler weather and occasional balloon-flight cancellations in Cappadocia. Whichever season you choose, packing layers and sun protection will keep you comfortable across Turkey’s varied landscapes.

By Avery T.(Austin, USA)July 18, 2026 Pamukkale, Ephesus, and Cappadocia fit together wellAfter comparing a few options, I chose this 5-day tour because the route made sense. The transfers and flights were handled well, which mattered with so many stops. The 4 AM pickup for Pamukkale was rough, but worth it for the white terraces and Hierapolis. I also really liked walking through Ephesus. Busy, but organized.Date of Experience: July 04, 2026
