You should be prepared to walk between Old City sights in Istanbul and around the sites visited in Cappadocia. Your Cappadocia sightseeing also includes road travel, so you are not walking throughout the full touring day. You begin in Istanbul with time to rest before guided sightseeing around Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and the Grand Bazaar. You then see the city from the water on a shared Bosphorus cruise before flying to Cappadocia. Two nights in a cave hotel give you a base for guided tours of the region’s southern and northern areas, including rock formations and the Göreme Open Air Museum. Arrival in Istanbul – Transfer to Your Hotel

On arrival at Istanbul Airport (IST) or Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW), meet our representative for your transfer to your hotel in Istanbul.

After check-in, you have the rest of the day free to rest or explore at your own pace.

Historic Istanbul Guided Tour

After breakfast, meet your licensed guide at approximately 9:00 AM to explore Istanbul‘s Old City.

You begin at the Basilica Cistern, an underground structure from the Byzantine period, then continue to Hagia Sophia.

Next, visit the Blue Mosque to see its Ottoman architecture and handmade Iznik tiles, followed by the Hippodrome of Constantinople. Finish your sightseeing at the Grand Bazaar, a covered market, before returning to your hotel.

Istanbul Sightseeing, Bosphorus Cruise & Evening Flight to Cappadocia

After breakfast and hotel checkout, meet your guide at approximately 9:00 AM and continue your sightseeing in Istanbul.

Begin with a visit to the magnificent Süleymaniye Mosque, one of the finest works of renowned Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan. Continue to the colorful Spice Bazaar, where you can browse stalls filled with spices, Turkish delight, teas, dried fruits, and traditional local products.

Later, enjoy a scenic Bosphorus Cruise, sailing between the European and Asian sides of Istanbul while taking in views of Ottoman palaces, historic waterfront mansions, bridges, and the city skyline.

South Cappadocia Guided Tour

After breakfast, meet your guide at approximately 9:30 AM for your South Cappadocia tour.

Begin at Göreme Panorama for views of the valleys and fairy chimneys, the region’s tall rock formations. Continue to Kaymaklı Underground City, a settlement built across several underground levels.

At Pigeon Valley, look for pigeon houses carved into the cliffs. Continue to Ortahisar, known for its natural rock castle, then visit Red Valley to see its colored rock formations and valley views.

You may make additional scenic stops, depending on conditions and available time. After the tour, return to your hotel.

Optional Balloon Ride and North Cappadocia Tour – Flight to Istanbul

Before breakfast, you may take an optional sunrise hot air balloon ride over Cappadocia‘s valleys and fairy chimneys. You share the balloon basket with other passengers. The flight is not included, is arranged separately, and is paid locally. It requires suitable weather, official approval, and availability; it is not guaranteed. Advance booking is strongly recommended.

If you take the balloon ride, return to your hotel afterward for breakfast. At approximately 9:30 AM, meet your guide for your North Cappadocia tour.

Visit Göreme Open Air Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with rock-cut Byzantine churches and frescoes, or wall paintings. Continue to Paşabağ (Monks Valley) for its mushroom-shaped fairy chimneys, then explore the unusual rock formations of Devrent Valley (Imagination Valley).

In Avanos, beside the Kızılırmak River, explore a town known for pottery. You may also visit a pottery workshop to watch craftspeople demonstrate traditional techniques.

After sightseeing, transfer to Kayseri Airport or Nevşehir Airport for your evening flight to Istanbul. Flight timing depends on airline schedules and availability. On arrival, meet your driver for the transfer to your hotel.
