Welcome to Turkey, and the start of your private Biblical Turkey tour. On arrival at Istanbul Airport (IST) or Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW), our representative will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name. From there, you will be taken by private transfer to your hotel for check-in.
The rest of the day is free for you to relax and recover from your flight at your own pace. Depending on your arrival time, you may wish to stroll the surrounding streets of the old city or enjoy a quiet Turkish dinner near your hotel. Overnight in Istanbul.

After breakfast, your private guide begins the day at the Byzantine Hippodrome, the former stage for chariot races and the Byzantine riots of the Roman era. A short walk leads to The Blue Mosque Istanbul, celebrated for its blue Iznik tiles.
Continue to Topkapi Palace, the residence of the Ottoman sultans and the administrative heart of the empire, built between 1460 and 1478 by Sultan Mehmed II, conqueror of Constantinople. Your visit includes the weapons section.
Around 1:00 PM, enjoy lunch at a local Turkish restaurant before walking to Hagia Sophia, completed in 532 AD under Emperor Justinian I. Note that live guiding is no longer permitted inside; guests follow an audio system using their own smartphones and headphones, which can be purchased at the entrance.
End your day at the Grand Bazaar Istanbul, one of the world’s oldest covered markets, with over 1,200 shops selling jewelry, pottery, spices, and carpets. Dinner is at your leisure this evening. Overnight in Istanbul.

At 8:30 AM, after breakfast at your hotel, your private guide meets you for a final morning in Istanbul. Begin at the Spice Bazaar, where stalls of saffron, dried fruit, and Turkish delight fill the air with color and aroma. From here, transfer to the port for a Bosphorus Cruise, a relaxed boat trip along the waterway dividing Europe and Asia. The shoreline reveals old wooden villas, marble palaces, stone fortresses, and small fishing villages.
In the afternoon, continue your private tour before transferring to Istanbul Airport for your late afternoon or evening domestic flight to Izmir. Please note that the domestic flight luggage allowance is 15 kg checked baggage and 8 kg cabin baggage per person. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred privately to your hotel for check-in and rest. Overnight in Izmir.
After breakfast, your private guide leads the drive to Pergamum, known today as Bergama and one of the Seven Churches of Asia. Explore the steep theatre of the Pergamon Acropolis, said to be the steepest in the world, and the Asklepion, a renowned medical centre of classical times. See the site of the Altar of Zeus, referred to as the “Throne of Satan” in Revelation, the marble columns of the Temple of Trajan, and the celebrated Library of Pergamon, whose collection of over 200,000 volumes rivaled Alexandria and inspired the invention of parchment.
Enjoy lunch at a local Turkish restaurant, then continue to Thyatira, now Akhisar, another of the Seven Churches and a city once famous for its purple dyes. Here you visit the remains of a basilica and Roman-period architectural fragments. Lydia, the seller of purple in Philippi, came from this city.
Overnight in Izmir.
After breakfast, set off early from Izmir with your private guide toward Sardis (present-day Sart), one of the most scenic of the Seven Churches of Asia [Rev. 1:11; 3:1-4] and once capital of the Lydian kingdom in the 6th century BC. Here you visit the great Temple of Artemis, the restored gymnasium, and the reconstructed synagogue. You also see the final stretch of the royal Persian Road that Cyrus the Great built from Susa, along with the “golden” river Pactolus.
Around midday, enjoy lunch at a local Turkish restaurant. Continue to Philadelphia (modern Alašehir), the only church not censured [Rev. 1:11; 3:7], where the brick remains of a Byzantine basilica still hold fragments of 11th-century frescoes. Next comes Laodicea, founded in the 3rd century BCE by the Seleucid Antiochus II and named for his wife, the last of the seven churches and a former crossroads of trade on the Lycus.
In the late afternoon, drive to the healing city of Hierapolis at Pamukkale, the white “cotton fortress” where hot mineral water cascades over the cliffs into terraced pools. Check in for dinner and overnight at a thermal hotel in Pamukkale.
After breakfast, drive to the ancient city of Ephesus, founded in the 10th century BC. The Apostle Paul preached here and lived in the city for three years, and the church at Ephesus received one of his epistles. Walk the marble streets past the Baths of Scholastica, the Library of Celsus, the Temple of Hadrian, and the Great Theatre of Ephesus with your private guide.
Around 1:00 PM, enjoy lunch at a local Turkish restaurant. Continue to the House of the Virgin Mary on the Alada&287; Mountains, where Mary is believed to have lived with St. John until her death. Then visit the Basilica of Saint John, where the evangelist spent his final years and was buried on Ayasuluk Hill.
A final stop at the Temple of Artemis, once among the seven wonders of the ancient world, precedes the drive to Kusadasi. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of this resort town, passing the marina, harbour, caravanserai, and bazaar. Dinner and overnight in Kusadasi.

- This tour involves significant walking over uneven terrain, ancient ruins, marble streets, and steep slopes — particularly at Pergamon's Acropolis (said to be the steepest theatre in the world), Ephesus, Sardis, and Hierapolis. A reasonable level of fitness and sturdy, comfortable walking shoes are essential.
- Domestic flights between Istanbul and Izmir allow approximately 15 kg of checked luggage per person. Excess baggage fees apply, so we recommend packing light and using soft-sided bags for easier handling.
- Mosques such as the Blue Mosque are closed to visitors during prayer times, especially Friday prayers (approximately 12:00-14:00). Your private guide will time your visit accordingly, but please remain flexible.
- A modest dress code is required when visiting mosques: women should cover their head, shoulders, and knees, and all visitors must remove their shoes. Headscarves are usually available at mosque entrances.
